Providing a Quality Education

The Quality Education Institute of Durham

Who We Are
The school at Quality Education Institute of Durham began in 1998 with three students. We've grown to more than 100 students enrolled for the 2007 school year. The school's growth  is attributed to the success of students in the classroom and the satisfaction of parents who choose to enroll their children in the school’s challenging and rewarding curriculum.

QEI's curriculum uses a combination of traditional and innovative instructional strategies, which serve to motivate and enhance the students’ total learning development. These strategies involve parents, teachers, and members of the community to help educate the children and provide an impetus to developing growing young minds.

Some of the reasons parents send their children to QEI include low student-to-teacher ratios, a rigorous academic curriculum, a safe and secure environment for learning, personalized education plans for each child, emphasis on character development and citizenship, and a year-round schedule with before and after-school care.

What we offer
Most students begin their tenure at QEI in our kindergarten program for 4-year-olds, where the foundation for their academic career is set. Like most children at this age, students are challenged to learn their letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. Our curriculum takes the challenge a little further, so that students are able to read by the time they enter 5-year-old kindergarten. At this point, the  proper foundation is laid for  academic success throughout their elementary school career. At QEI, each grade level has its own academic challenges, including multiplication, division, fractions, and excellent language skills by the third grade. Our students have a rigorous classroom experience with one-on-one instruction from our teachers and assistants when needed.

Students may arrive at school as early as 7:30 a.m. to take part in before-school activities. At 8:30 a.m., the school day begins! Your child should arrive by 8:20 to prepare for the day. Students are exposed to a variety of subjects, including math, English, music, Spanish, science, social studies, and physical education. By 3:30 p.m., students are able to take part in our after-school program, where staff supervises their constructive play and craft projects, until their parents pick them up. The after-school program ends daily at 5:30 p.m.
